My dog is a stud dog !

I screen for a serious disease and I produce healthy puppies.

ANTAGENE establishes the genetic of status of my dog
vs an hereditary disease present in the breed.

ANTAGENE proposes a large range of DNA screening
tests for the most serious hereditary diseases,
for the health and the welfare of the animal.

The diseases tested are specific to each breed of dog.


I am a breeder and concerned about my dogs’health :

One of my stud dog scan be carrier of an hereditary diease specific to the breed. He can transmit this genetic mutation to its pregeny and have dog affected by this disease.

      • I screen my stud dogs for an hereditary disease present in my breed and for which ANTAGENE proposes a screening DNA test.
      • I adapt matings to avoid the matingsof 2 stud dogs « carriers » and avoid the birth of affected puppies.
      • I limit the spreading in my breeding and the breed of a serious hereditary disease.

How do I use the DNA screening test for an hereditary disease ?

I screen my males and females for an hereditary disease present into my breed.

I also ask to the stud dog owner outside my breeding the result of the DNA test.

I both of the male and female are carriers, I give up this mating and I choose a stud dog « clear ».

Among the predetermined couple, if the male is carrier and the female clear, I can choose to confirm this mating, but by checking the progeny and by testing the dog(s) of the litter I will choose to keep for reproduction.

I buy a puppy for reproduction, I ask for its genetic status vs an hereditary disease present in the breed and detectable by a DNA test.


How do I get the genetic status of my dog vs an hereditary disease ?

I verify the existance of a DNA test to screen the hereditary disease present in my dog’s breed.

During my visit at the veterinarian, he performs a simple cheeck swab sample ( using ANTAGENE DNA sampling kit). The veterinary controls the dog’s identity, othentifies the sampling and sends the sample to ANTAGENE. The authentification of the sample by a veterinarian is  required to get an official acknowledgment of the DNA test result.

ANTAGENE extracts the DNA , performs the analysis of the dog’s genome and establishes the genetic status towards the tested disease.

For an autosomical recessive disease ( almost all diesease tested), the dog can get 3 genetic status :

      • Normal homozygous ( clear)  : The dog will not developp the disease and doesn’t  transmit it
      • Heterozygous (carrier) : the dog doeqn’t develop the disease but transmits the mutation to 50% of its progeny
      • Mutated homozygous (affected) : the dog develops the disease and transmits the mutation to 100% of its progeny

I receive by email a genetic certificate presenting the genetic status of the dog towards the tested disease
