ANTAGENE provides a certificate displaying the genetic status of a dog or a cat
Predisposition to urate bladder stones
Description: Metabolic disorder resulting in elevated levels of uric acid in blood and urine. This trait predisposes dogs to form urate bladder stones
Symptoms : Difficulty urinating, blood in urine, urinary incontinence, abdominal pain. Some complications are possible: acute kidney failure, urinary tract infection, or rupture of bladder
Age of onset : Between 3 and 6 years old
Frequency : 35%
Gene involved : SLC2A9
Tested mutation : c.616G>T
Transmission : Autosomal Recessive
Patent : _
Notes : Predisposition to urate bladder stones caused by this mutation is variable according to breeds. Most of homozygous mutated dogs never show symptoms.
Motor function disorder of the hind limbs
Description: Spinal chord malformation resulting in motor function disorder of the hind limbs
Symptoms : Regarding the hind limbs only, motor function disorder, loss of balance and coordination, proprioceptive deficits. Specific symptoms: symmetric ‘‘bunny-hopping’’ or simultaneous use of the pelvic limbs. Bilateral withdrawal reflex (pinching one paw elicits flexion of both hind limbs)
Age of onset : As soon as the puppy starts walking
Frequency : 9% carriers in French population
Gene involved : NKX2-8
Tested mutation : c.174del_G;ins2bp(AA)
Transmission : Autosomal Recessive
Patent : -
Notes :
Tremors
Description: Thickness of the myelin sheath covering the neurons of the spinal cord is below normal
Symptoms : Generalized tremor, "hopping" gait in the hind limbs. Clinical signs diminished with time by 3 to 4 months of age, though some dogs retained a persistent fine tremor of the hind limbs
Age of onset : From 1 to 2 weeks old
Frequency : 9% carriers in American population
Gene involved : FNIP2
Tested mutation : c.880delA
Transmission : Autosomal Recessive
Patent : -
Notes :
Long coat / Short coat
Description: DNA test can identifying dogs carrying the genotype "Long Coat"
Symptoms : _
Age of onset : _
Frequency : -
Gene involved : FGF5
Tested mutation : c.284G>T
Transmission : Autosomal Recessive
Patent : _
