The genetic identification, a reality
Over 20 cat's breeds were genetically identified by ANTAGENE.
Until the end of the 2008, the genetic identification and the DNA authentification should be integrated to the pedigrees in France.
The DNA test, a reliable and validated test
As member of the ISAG (International Society for Animal Genetics) and in association with 10 others laboratories, the Laboratory Antagene was actively involved in developing and validating the cat's genetic identification system between 2004 and 2006.
The genetic fingerprint consists in a panel of 19 genetic tracers , but 4 of them are rejected by the ISAG because of drawbacks. A panel of 15 genetic markers is used to realize DNA identification and parentage verification, with a reliability higher than 99%.
Antagene delivers a genetic fingerprint supplied by 10 genetic markers and 5 complementary markers, used in-house torefine the parentage verification.
The genetic fingerprint is coded in letters form to check easily the profiles compatibility between the parents and the kittens.
